6 + 2
The Quebec Roadhouse is a 1930s two-storey terrace property in the Ilford area of East London that is under renovation throughout, including a loft and single-storey rear extension to allow more space for a modern way of living.
The family lived in the property for several years before heading into renovation and extension of their loved home.
The brief for this project was to bring in a good quality amount of natural light and eliminate clatter and unease layout to create a flowing space with private pockets.
Studio 6 + 2 was chosen by the owner and her family, to extend and refurbish their current home on Quebec Road in Ilford/London.
We have designed a three-storey extension to the side and a single-storey rear to create new purpose-built spaces. On the ground floor, the side extension makes space for entry and circulation to the upper floors, and our client works from the home office, providing the much-needed separation between work and family zones. The space where the stairs used to be is a downstairs clock room and utility.
The rear ground floor extension is for a new kitchen and dining area.
The first floor and second floor have additional bedrooms and bathrooms. The entire reconfiguration of the existing layout of the property has allowed for the creation of easy circulation flow and size of bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have an en suite.
These newly built sections of the house add needed space to create an extra living space with fluid circulations and interconnected space.
